Our Mission

Celebrate the Beat (CTB) provides in-school and after-school dance programs that improve childrens’ physical health and well-being, inspire them to believe in themselves, and establish a standard of excellence that positively impacts every aspect of their lives. For youth-at-risk who have little access to a high-quality arts education, CTB’s dance curriculum can be life-changing, teaching them not just the art of dance, but the art of the possible.

Our Impact

Our programs contribute to a healthier, “whole-child” school culture. Through the transformative power of dance, students embody essential life skills that empower them with abilities and knowledge that positively impacts all aspects of their life.

Self-management and self-awareness are fundamentally rooted in the body, making dance an incredible tool to teach skills such as resilience, self-advocacy, and collaboration. These skills are imperative for all students to return to their classrooms ready to learn. By experiencing and thriving in Celebrate the Beat's high-quality arts program, students are not just learning to dance; they are uncovering the beat that has been inside them all along.

Celebrate the Beat's program is radically inclusive and accessible to all children in the schools we partner with, regardless of differences. Our students are culturally diverse, and we are striving to reflect that diversity on our staff and board. 

We continue to educate ourselves and prioritize equity in our recruiting, hiring, and retention methods. We are actively learning how to deepen our commitment to being anti-racist as individuals, as artists, as educators, and as an organization.
